I took the flag/patriotic holidays off this version of the calendar because the focus was on fandom, but they are on the master calendar at the blog itself. but still a good catch.

Yup, its a holiday and one I missed.
A good idea, though maybe a bit overwhelming for this since its for all fandoms, but its a good thing to keep in mind if there is a fandom specific challenge or something that comes up.
