Good Things

spiralicious: heart shaped tea cup (<3 tea)
This is a bit late, but I felt like I needed it today instead of waiting until next Monday.

1. My nephew-in-law and I got along for a few seconds the other night. My niece and her husband were in town for the holidays so my sister arrange for a family dinner at Chan's. It was a bit of a shit show, but at one point he made a comment about tea being “hot leaf juice.” So, I told him “calm down, Zuko.” At that point, we made eye contact and discussed tea references in Dragon Ball for a few seconds. After that, he went back to being his obnoxious self.

2. The DVD selection at the library, especially while curled up on the couch with a blanket and a selection of beverages.

3. Met the non-bological sister's boyfriend. Got this text the next day, “A***** says you are a very genuine soul. He was a fan. As am I, always.”

4. The library is doing another bingo. The rules are stricter this go around, but this time the prizes in the drawing are $15 Amazon gift cards.

5. Anna and the Apocalypse is my new favorite Christmas movie.

Pimp Your Favorite Communities, Fests or Challenges!

It's going to be a long one.

[community profile] allbingo for all of your bingo needs. Each month, a member hosts a theme, but there are no real deadlines and you can post any bingo from any other bingo challenge that allows cross-posting (or even one that has ended that you finished just for the fun of finishing). It allows fanfic and original fiction. It also doesn't require you to show your work, if can't post it for whatever reason. And just for a little self-promotion, while I randomly host a bingo month here and there, I co-host Winterfest in July there and Fall Fest (October) there every year.

[community profile] fandom_stocking It's my favorite holiday exchange comm. It's very low key and has you put non-fandom interests on your list as well (like recipes). It, unfortunately, wasn't able to run its normal round this last December, but the mod believes she will be able to run it again in the future.

[community profile] fffc If you need a challenge, they have several for you. They do weekly, monthly, and special challenges simultaneously. It's a lot of fun and they put a lot of work into coming up with new things for their members to do. They allow fanfic and original.

[community profile] holiday_prompts If you like tables, they have prompt tables for pretty much any holiday you can think of and they are always coming up with new ones. There are no deadlines or challenge dates, so if you want to do Halloween tables all year, go for it.

[community profile] inspiring_tables It's one of the comms that sprung up to help continue the table claims at 15Kisses, 15Kinks, 15Woes, and Whole New World when the mod that was running them bailed at the end of the summer challenge at those four comms. It's very friendly. You can continue any claims from those comms if you want, make new ones, and they have some new tables too.

[community profile] madrona_project is an original fiction comm that takes place in a shared universe. It's our world, but 800 years after the apocalypse. You can claim a territory in the Kingdom of Madrona and write stories about the people of your land or you can play in the shared space of the Capital. The main rules are you can't have anything that runs on electricity and magic cannot be real. In the interest of full disclosure, I run Madrona's info comm. It's were the rules, research help, and guides to different people's lands lives and where members can share articles of interest related to the comm and have out of character discussions.

[community profile] plot_bunny_boot is a get your stuff done style comm. You sign up with your list of writing projects for the year and your pledge for the year/how many things you need to knock off your list (it tells you how to figure that out). There are monthly check ins and you are encouraged to check in even if you have nothing for the month. It runs from March to March.

[community profile] sga_saturday It's a Stargate Atlantis challenge comm. It used to run differently, but now it does monthlyish prompts with an amnesty round at the end of the year. Prompts are fun and it's in need of a love.

[personal profile] spook_me is an annual creature based challenge that runs around Halloween. They have a list of creatures, you claim one and they send you two secret picture prompts to inspire you based on the creature you chose. It's low pressure and a lot of fun.

[community profile] ushobwri is essentially a writing support group. Everything is member locked and “There will be no judgments, no deadlines, no reason to justify your non-productivity.” They also have little challenges through out the year to help you along as well. I haven't been a member long, but they have been a tremendous help to me over the last year.

[community profile] whatif_au Every month, they post a new AU theme. No deadlines or minimum word counts. It's multifandom and not limited to fic. It's just a lot of fun.

[livejournal.com profile] spn_on_parade It's a fun little comm revolving around the adventures of Mini Dean Winchester, Mini Sam Winchester, and Mini Castiel (aka, their Funko dolls versions). Most members collections have extended beyond those three, but as long as they're involved somewhere, it's okay. It also doesn't have to be pictures of the deeds of your minis. It can be fics, comics, etc. As long as it is Funkos of members of Team Free Will centric, its okay.
