This is kind of unintentionally fandom, as I was grabbing from the most recent songs I've listened to and most of them were from a playlist I use to plot a Stargate SG-1/Batman crossover I will never finish.

Also, it's just a list because the coding to link things is just too much for me tonight.

S - "Songs I Can't Listen To" by Neon Trees
P - "Pompeii" by Bastille
I - "I Don't Love You" by My Chemical Romance
R - "Read My Mind" by The Killers
A - "Anti-Hero" by Ray Garrison (Taylor Swift cover)
L - "Love Like Ghosts" by Lord Huron
I - "I Found" by Amber Run
C - "Candy" by Robbie Williams
I - "I Kissed a Girl" by Jill Sobule
O - "Orange Juice" by Noah Kahan
U - "Under the Bridge" by Red Hot Chili Peppers
S - "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" by Adele

Challenge #5

Search in your current space, whether brick-and-mortar or digital. Post a picture (a link to a picture will be fine!) or description of something that is or represents
:

1. Something your favorite character would like
One of the problems with being so multifandom is that, I am not sure who my favorite character is, like, no one particular character comes to mind. According to [personal profile] vexed_wench, my favorite character is Alfred Pennyworth. I think he would appreciate my very clearly labeled storage system and that I have sewing kits hidden throughout the house. My mother heard what I was doing and started shouting out Dean Winchester related things, so I will add the assorted bottles of whiskey in the laundry room. (We keep all the alcohol in a cabinet in the laundry room. Also, Bobby is actually my favorite Supernatural character, but I think this works for both.) And just because I feel like Iroh needs a shout out, I think he would appreciate my very assorted collection of teas.

2. Something that makes you laugh
The gifs from Vexed that regularly grace my phone.

3. A fandom place you would like to visit
Okay, technically, there are a few things I could use for this, but every time I found one, my brain went, "No, not there, you'll die." So, I'm skipping this one. (Though my mother has decided to help me with this scavenger hunt and brought me my Stargate SG-1 DVDs when she heard what question I was on.)

4. A fandom creator (pro or not) you'd like to meet
My brain interpreted this in too many ways. If we are talking a creator that created a fandom, I am going with my Emotional Support Demon plushie. I was so happy to get one of The Click’s plushies after missing out on Cliccy Kitties 1 and 2, and both runs of Mango. (I also got the keychain sized versions of the Emotional Support Demon and Mango last year.) If we are talking a creator in a fandom that creates fandom things, I have the print out of an email, for collage purposes, of confirmation of tickets I bought for a virtual burlesque show I went to a few years ago. One of the show’s featured performers was a writer/cosplayer/performer/make-up artist/trans & chronic illness advocate/comic enthusiast/goblin rogue I really appreciate. But honestly the idea of meeting anyone is terrifying.

5. Something you find comforting
Oden the Peccary Pig of the Squishmallow Desert Squad. According to his bio, he loves building intricate sandcastles. All I know is petting the fluff on top of his head helps me sleep.

6. Something from a favorite TV series or movie from your childhood
When I was a baby, my sister made me a Popple blanket from a kit as part of her sewing class.

7. A piece of clothing you love
My red "DAMNIT BRUCE, WE'RE RUNNING OUT OF ROOMS" T-shirt. It was an early bit of Panda Redd merch that, sadly, most of the lettering has come off of. I went to buy a sticker with the saying, but when he switched shops recently, it was not part of the old designs he brought over.

8. A book or song with a color in the title
There are literally thousands of books in my house and I frustratingly could not find one with a color in the title. So, I turned to my music collection and found "Inked in Red" by Vision video and "Welcome to the Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance at pretty much the same time.

9. Something only someone in your fandom would understand
I guess my letterman's jacket. It’s maroon with grey sleeves and a grey hood. The emblem on the left side of the chest is a “15” in the center of the “flame” design that surrounds an anti-possession tattoo and the back has a W with a black Chevy impala threaded through it with, “There’ll be peace when you are done” around it. I’ve worn this thing almost every day for almost (?) 4 years now. The most common comment I get is people shouting “cool jacket” at me. I also get a lot of knowing nods from people I assume are Supernatural fans and it’s started a lot of unexpected conversations about Supernatural. However, it has just as often gotten people coming up to me asking what sport I played, wanting to try to start conversations about cars, asking what religious organization I belong to, or just “what does 15 mean?”

This year is only my second Spotify Wrapped and this year actually had a lot of surprises for me. Part of this was I spent a couple months not using Spotify to listen to music at all and was only listening to music on YouTube, and I listened to slightly different stuff there, so while it was part of music I listened to this year in my mind, it wasn't included in this. I'm going to add songs that were on my regular rotation on YouTube to my main Spotify playlist. (Yes, I know YouTube is doing their own version of Wrapped this year and I am ignoring it.)

With that in mind, the number of genres, songs, and artists listened to are accurate to Spotify, they are not accurate to my overall listening.

According to Wrapped, I listened to 10 genres, which would probably be more if all the music I listened to had been included, but was not surprising. My top five genres were also not a surprise.

My top songs section shocked me. I would have never guessed my top song in a million years. I knew I had listened to it a lot, but I didn't think it had even cracked my top ten, let alone the number one spot. Out of the top five, two songs are by Fall Out Boy, which is only surprising in that I would have assumed more were on there. My number three song being by All Time Low is also not surprising, as I listened to them a lot this year, but the song itself was, because it is my least favorite of the songs by them on my playlist. I have no idea how Forever the Sickest Kids made my top five songs and artists. I like literally one song by them, but also Spotify feeds them too me a lot as suggested listening when I can't skip. I just didn't think it was that much.

My top five artists surprised me a little bit, only in that I didn't realize I had listened to NATI. enough for her to break into the top five, which is actually kind of cool. She deserves more love.

The biggest surprise though was at the end, they included a podcast stat for me. They only told me my top listened to podcast (I listen to quite a few, but irregularly), which was a frightening number of minutes listened to (I forgot to write down the number). Then there was the follow up info that I was in the top 11% of listeners, and that gave me a lot of mixed feelings. Part of the reason for that is it's an erotica podcast that I am intentionally not naming. I obviously listen to it a lot, but it's not one that I think to recommend to people because a) no one I know who would be asking me for recs, would also be into this one, and b) the reason I listen to it so much is not because it's my favorite or I love it, it's because its consistent, in both quality and posting schedule. It's fairly reliable when pretty much all the other ones I enjoy more are not - either their posting schedules are wild and erratic or the quality is all over place, or in a couple cases, both. I kinda wish I was more into it.

Stats under the cut.

So apparently I have a Christmas/Winter/Yule playlist?

I was trying to clean up my Spotify account (I follow too many podcasts and playlists) and I discovered I apparently made a holiday playlist for Winterfest in July last year (2022). It needs some editing for sure, and I haven't figured out how to link it here, but I thought I would share the song list just the same.

I did this at the library with the countdown clock staring at me the whole time, I should probably do it again when I can think, lol.

Snagged from [personal profile] razielim

Favorite Pseud: My favorite of mine is probably spiralicious, even if its origin story now has not necessarily the happiest feelings for me anymore. I have others that are certainly easier to spell and make more sense, but this is the one that has stuck.

Time Zone: PST

Star Sign(s): Cancer sun (Aquarius moon, Virgo rising)

Favorite Holidays: Halloween & New Year's Day

Last Meal: As in the last one I’ve had? I had leftover cream of mushroom soup with garlic and hamburger and oyster crackers, cranberry juice to drink, and I had a tester cookie for breakfast. I should probably eat something soon.

Current Favorite Musician: I wouldn’t say they’re my favorite, but my playlists have been heavily favoring Fall Out Boy & All Time Low lately.

Last Music Listened To: According to Spotify, it was “Dani California” by Red Hot Chili Peppers on my Cooking playlist (the playlist has nothing to do with cooking). Though I think in reality it was that selection of Fall Out Boy, All Time Low, Florence and the Machine, The Front Bottoms, & other random things I’ve been relistening to over and over again.

Last Movie Watched: Rewatching The Shining as part of my horror movie and knit marathon.

Last TV Show Watched: People’s Court while I was getting ready this morning.

Last Book/Fic Finished: I binged a whole bunch of Stargate Atlantis fics last night (I am pretty sure some Batman, The Witcher [video game], Interview with the Vampire [tv series] fics were in there too.) But the last book was The Power of Style by Christian Allaire, according to Beanstack.

Last Book/Fic Abandoned: The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride. It was for book club, which met today and I didn’t finish it, though I am not sure I have completely abandoned it yet.

Currently Reading: I am starting a new book when I get home, I think it is Man Made Monsters by Andrea L. Rogers.

Books/Shows/Movies/etc. You Want to Get Around To: On my overly ambitious list for by the end of the year I have, Good Omens season 2, The Boys, the new Batman Christmas movie who’s name suddenly escapes me Merry Little Batman, finish Harley Quinn season 3 & watch season 4… and there are like 3 or 4 things on my HBO list I can’t look at right now and a stack of library materials XD Justice League: Warworld (2023), catch up Batman: The Audio Adventures, Prague Spring by Simon Mawer (though I will probably skip this one), Lumberjanes #11-13, The Strange True Tale of Frankenstein's Creator Mary Shelley by Catherine Reef, Ice Cream Man Sundae Edition, Volume One, Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte, This Book is Gay (2021 revised and updated edition) by Juno Dawson, Mushrooming by Diane Borgato, Samurai Champloo rewatch, Batman: Death in the Family interactive blu-ray, Yuri on Ice, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show rewatch.

Last Thing Researched for Art/Writing/Hyperfixation: curly haired animals and how bushy a racoon tail is exactly.

Last Eureka, Breakthrough, or Neat Fact/Concept Learned: I actually had a really important one like a week ago, but its probably completely TMI

Favorite Online Fandom Memory: I am going to be vague and go with old group chats.

Favorite Old Fandom You Wish Would Drag You Back In/Have A Resurgence: I honestly don’t have one. It feels weird to say that.

Favorite Thing You Enjoy That Never Had an Active or Big "Fandom" but You Wish It Did: There was a time when I could name a few things, but sitting here with the countdown clock going, my mind is blank.

After thinking about it for a day, I just want to add here that most of the time I think something doesn't have a big or active fandom, it either does and I just haven't been looking in the right spot or it ends up having one later. Also, I don't know if this counts, as its a weird crossover pairing from two fandoms that have no reason to meet whatsoever, but it is lonely over here on appropriately aged Zuko/appropriately aged Jason Todd island.

Tempting Project You're Trying to Rein In/Don't Have Time For: I have an AU idea for a no capes AU of the Justice League as Youtubers. It has gotten entirely out of hand. The post about it, just talking about the idea on DW, I started in September has gotten so out of hand/unruly I haven’t been able to get it posted.

Tempting Project You're 100% Going to Undertake: Filling as many requests as possible at [community profile] fandomtrees and [community profile] holiday_wishes.

ETA: To fix a typo, Add/fix titles on "get around to" list, and add too "favorite thing you enjoy that never had a big or active fandom
spiralicious: My Creative Juices May Contain Pulp (Juices)
I'm having trouble doing anything, everything right now and, frankly, for the last three weeks, so in lieu of the posts I had planned to do tonight, I thought this might be fun. I left the song titles off because I thought it might also be fun to see who knows what songs they are from without googling. (And looking back on what made the cut for this post, no, this is not a cry for help, my main work playlist is just mostly of a certain time period and genre.)

SPN Music Videos

spiralicious: My Creative Juices May Contain Pulp (Juices)
Over the years, I have consumed probably thousands of SPN fan videos. I love them and more get made everyday. Vidders use songs from nearly every genre and time period for their music videos, so it is always a little shocking when you look for one using a specific song and you can't find one. I am not talking about not finding a video with your pairing or the pairing you think should go with the song or not finding a “good” video. I am talking about one does not seem to exist.

Here is a list of five songs I was surprised have not been used in a SPN fan video (at least as of last time I looked). If you have a song you were surprised wasn't used in an SPN fan video or know of a video made with the songs below, let me know in the comments.

SEETHER LYRICS

Wed, Feb. 18th, 2009 11:50 pm
spiralicious: Cereal Killer Mask (My Own Prison)
"The Gift"

Hold me now I need to feel relief
Like I never wanted anything
I suppose I'll let this go and find a reason I'll hold on to
I'm so ashamed of defeat
And I'm out of reason to believe in me
I'm out of trying to get by

I'm so afraid of the gift you give me
I don't belong here and I'm not well
I'm so ashamed of the lie I'm living
Right on the wrong side of it all

I can't face myself when I wake up
And look inside a mirror
I'm so ashamed of that thing
I suppose I'll let it go
Untill I have something more to say for me
I'm so afraid of defeat
And I'm out of reason to believe in me
I'm out of trying to defy

I'm so afraid of the gift you give me
I don't belong here and I'm not well
I'm so ashamed of the lie I'm living
Right on the wrong side of it all

Hold me now I need to feel complete
Like I matter to the one I need

I'm so afraid of the gift you give me
I don't belong here and I'm not well
I'm so ashamed of the lie I'm living
Right on the wrong side of it all

Now I'm ashamed of this
I am so ashamed of this
Now I'm so ashamed of me
I am so ashamed of me...

Life and Whatnot

spiralicious: Cereal Killer Mask (Hands off!)
Ok Tuesday I went music shopping armed with $40 in gift certificates. Shock and astonishment they actually had a copy of Venus Doom on the release date! I guess being good pays off sometimes (not really). I have listened to it once because I had too but I am waiting to give it the full attention it deserves and that I can't give it at the moment. The only thing I will say about it now is that If you are a Love Metal fan, you'll love it. If Dark Light is the best album in the world according to you, you'll hate it. I also bought Aerosmith by Aerosmith, Bam Margera Presents Viva la Bands vol.2, and The Greatest Songs Ever Written (By Us) by NOFX. My love for Aerosmith is well know so I am not going to explain that one. VLB v.2 I have been looking for since I heard it came out. I looked in new releases, I looked under V for various artists but I never thought to look under B for Bam (which is where I found it while looking for something else). It is an amazing collection but I have yet to watch the DVD that came with it. And I love NOFX. "Wore out the Soles of my Party Boots" is my favorite NOFX song. GSEW is the only album with "Wore out the Soles of my Party Boots" on it. Music shopping for me is a very serious buisness. I must carefully consider every album in the store and sort through my mental list of what I want, how bad I want it, and how to maximize my money. Because as much as I am obsessed with music I can't go shopping very often so I save up money (and gift certificates) to buy as much as I can in one sitting.
Wednesday was spent packing.
Today was spent moving in. It's kind of weird to be back. It is very weird to have a roommate again. It is also very weird not working at the area desk, but it was nice to find out they got nothing but love for me over there. I will go on tomorrow but for now I must go to bed because I am very tired and I have a job interview tomorrow morning.

Begginings 1/10

Mon, Sep. 17th, 2007 10:21 pm
spiralicious: Cereal Killer Mask (Hands off!)
So I haven't posted in about two months. So I shall try to catch up in small increments.
Fan-girling and related activities
Well first and foremost HIM has been on my radar the most because they have been doing the Project Revolution tour and the new album is coming out and Ville was in rehab so I spent quite a bit of time catching up at [Unknown site tag] . There were tons of photos and article scans coming in.

When Project Revolution was in San Fransisco, Live 105 did an interview with HIM (well it was just Ville and Mige if I remember right), as well as a couple other bands. The Interviewer was, perhaps, an idiot. He could have been having an off day, but it made the interview entertaining. I don’t know if it is still on Live 105’s website or not.

As I told Hairball, I have been a very good girl. The Venus Doom album is coming out soon (today in the us, everywhere else earlier) and I have managed to avoid all of it. Ok, not all of it I did watch the "Kiss of Dawn" music video and I have been reading the magazine articles but that is it. I want it to be a surprise. I didn’t do any of those stupid games at heartagram. I didn’t listen to any of the music, officially leaked or otherwise. I downloaded nothing. I watched no videos (other than the Kiss of Dawn video of course) fan made, record company made, or of concerts where they were singing the songs. I avoided reading the lyrics when they were posted. I have been very patient. I have behaved myself. But if I have to wait until I am at school to buy the album I may cry…or at least speak harshly to a clerk.

There are three versions of the Venus doom album. I looked them all up to decide which I was going to buy. I decided the regular album would be the one I would spend my money on. The special edition just didn’t look like it was worth it. But we all know that once I know for absolute certain that I will have my job and if there is a way for me to get the special limited edition I will snap it up as though my very life depends upon it. But I am not holding my breath.

I also have a ticket to the concert in Portland. I even sort of have a plan on how I am going to get there and back, but hopefully I can find someone to go to the concert with me and create a better plan.

They played the SNL that Hugh Laurie hosted. Yay! *fangirl-like squeal* Ok, so I am a bit sad and pathetic, deal with it. It was awesome and I loved it, his accent, I got to see him in a dress, the opening monologue, it was worth not changing the channel.

I went to the Slow Children’s concert at the Hideaway. It was good. It was nice to get out. I saw a lot of people from high school that didn’t recognize me and I didn’t feel the need to reintroduce myself. I also saw my friend that I shall call here Spazzy. She is just as crazy as ever. We got to talk for awhile. I met a girl that I know only from myspace. She is from St. Louis but recently moved to the area. It was cool and creepy at the same time. I haven’t even seen her on myspace for a year or so. She recognized me from my old picture and I recognized her screen name. I bought a cd, danced with a total stranger, and spent a few hours at Hippiewoman’s house. All and all I think I had a pretty full evening. I even drank, perhaps, a little too much, eventually.

I have been trying to frame my autographed Bam pic since I got home. Right at the beginning of summer I found a frame that I was going to decorate to make it more…Bamesque, I suppose. But then I lost the bloody frame. I found another frame that actually looks almost exactly like what I wanted to do to the other frame. So I bought I and put Bam inside of it, but of course, what happened? I found the other frame. So now I have gone out and got most of the stuff I need to decorate it how I want and I will figure out what to do about the I have two frames for one pic thing later.

I have also been reading far too much slash and smut in general. And you thought there wasn't such a thing.

Well my birthday was rather quiet. Big surprise. I did get a bunch of phone calls and facebook messages. That's much better then usual. Mom gave me a bunch of gift cards and a cake. Although my grandmother did spill the beans that I have a surprise birthday party tomorrow. Well, it is going to be my mom, sister, her two kids, my aunt, my great aunt and my grandmother standing around watching me open greeting cards (at best) and eating leftover cake from today. I don't know if that qualifies as a party but it is the best I can hope for. No I'm not disappointed. It is better than most years. I usually don't even get that much. Last year was awesome but it was my 21st. My dad took me to dinner tonight. We went to the Onion Grill because Lee's is no more. It was good. He even set up to have the staff bring me a chocolate mousse and sing me happy birthday. It was oddly sweet. It wasn't embarrassing like it is some places and no one has ever done that for me before. Frankly if someone wants to impress me or make me happy on my birthday the bar has been set very low. It was good to hear from Jenny I haven't heard from her in forever. Last night before I went to bed I got some tv reception on NBC and it was a Late Night with Conan O'Brien in San Fransisco with Robin Williams promoting License to Wed. Hairball would have loved it. Also mom forgot to put the garbage out last night and I remembered when I heard the garbage truck coming down the street. So I ran out at 2am and put the garbage out.
In honor of partying, or lack there of I decided to put together a top list:
Most played cds in my cd case (in no particular order):
