So feel free to completely ignore this and scroll on by.

Here is what happened. I was really on the ball with watching the last two episodes of season 12 the morning after they aired. I even wrote up my reaction for 12.22 before I watched 12.23. The problem was, I got interrupted before I could write out my reaction for episode 12.23 and forgot about finishing my post. I realized it earlier this summer when I found the piece of paper I took notes on while watching and have been trying ever since to get enough free time to track down the post and post it before season 13 premiers. It doesn't air in my time zone for another two hours and I will not be able to watch it until it goes up on the CW website. I'm squeaking by, but I'll make it.

The only reason I am bothering is because at this point it feels like yet another unfinished project sitting around taunting me. Silly, I know, but it would be something I actually can finish.

I have not read 12.22 since I wrote it, so it shall be a surprise for us all. Instead of fleshing out 12.23, which would require a re-watch, I instead just put down my notes as I had jotted them on the paper. It's more entertaining that way.

I am, surprisingly, largely indifferent to this episode. I think the main reason for this is I went into it reminding myself that it was episode 21, an episode that is normally, plot heavy, has a lot crammed into it, and very likely to make me scream in unhappiness any given season. It lived up to its predecessors. I didn't hate it. I can't think of anything I loved. It did do a good job of moving all the plots along to the finale. Everything else is under a cut and contains spoilers.

I really liked this episode; solid plot, an interesting MoW, the door was left open for more Twins plotline. I even liked Mary this episode. I don't really have a lot to say about it. Spoilers under the cut.

Overall, there are things I liked about this episode, but let's just say it wasn't my favorite. At least the plot is still moving. Spoilers under the cut. (Also, I had to write this out super fast so I was not as articulate as I would have liked and I missed some points I had meant to make. Sorry)

Basically, I liked it. It managed to be a monster of the week episode and moved the plot along. The rest is under a cut. (I'm caught up!!)

Just for the sake of clarity, this is a reaction to the episode that originally aired February 23rd. This was a really good episode. I had a ton of playback issues at the beginning and nearly just skipped it, but I'm glad I stuck with it. The rest is under the cut because of possible spoilers.

I feel really weird putting something this short under a cut, but it's a little spoilery.

I watched the episode late as usual and I really wanted to love this episode. Everyone kept telling me how great the episode was. My feelings are very mixed. There are some things I really loved and things I really did not love and almost no in between, just fair warning. That should also come with a disclaimer that I was having a lot of playback issues, while I was watching the episode and I have been having a bit of a hard time in general lately, which makes me extra moody, so that could have far more to do with my reaction to the episode than the episode itself. There are spoilers, hence the cut. Also, I have a few notes I wanted to add about episode 12.08 at the end.

Again, here are my ramblings I jotted down while and immediately after I watched the latest Supernatural episode. They are under a cut due to possible spoilers.

So, I have been trying to avoid episode reactions until I catch up. That is really difficult. I was pretty much able to do it with the last two, but this one, not so much. I mean, I didn't get any real details, but from what I did end up hearing, mostly from tumblr reposts on Pinterest, the episode was not what I had expected. I expected some serious shark jumping. It was pretty much a normal episode. It's most egregious sin was that it was mildly boring. And let's face it, we get a couple duds a season. It was a little weird that they pulled out the Thule now, but we know they have had that in their back pocket for a while, just waiting to pull it out.

That being said, it did have a few moments. Sam said antiquing. That will never, ever not be good for giggles. Dean and his inability to not touch everything in the antique shop. We had a very clear Sam saying, “so get this” moment, even if Sam did not say “so.” Sam getting mildly pissy when the girl called the Thule "Nazi zombies" and corrected her that they were necromancers. Dean and the grenade launcher. Please someone find him a time to use a grenade launcher. Also, Dean being all happy he killed Hitler.

So basically, a mildly boring filler episode. They happen.

I don't have a lot to say about this one. It was a good solid episode. There was a ton of throwback to season 2, which I love. I always like when the boys dress up as priests. It's adorable when Sam fanboys, and we get those moments so rarely. Dean was pretty much at his most Deanness and Sam was pretty much at his most Samness, which is awesome. The last couple seasons have been great about bringing the characters back to themselves, main plots aside. The fence scene was great, even if the camera could have been just a touch more to the right. Not sure what was trying to be accomplished there as, according to Jensen at some convention, it was his idea, but awesome just the same. Every season has an episode where Dean gets perspective on his family by dealing with another one, this was it. It was just early this season. I kind of wanted to be in the room where it would be decided that the background on Sam's phone was the Men of Letters symbol. Oh, and the sweater outfits. It's like they took the sweater outfits from last season, heard all my complaints and fixed them. I liked Carl. I do not like Mr. Ketch. I still don't know how I feel about the scene with Sam alone with the mom while Dean was helping put the wheel on the buggy. It was powerful and my only thoughts were “Holy crap, Sam,” over and over again, but I still don't know if that was an atta boy or a calm the fuck down holy crap.

Has anyone else noticed that Sam's hair this season is a just a slightly longer version of his season 3 haircut?

Episode 12.02 Reaction Post

WARNING SORT OF SPOILERS

I have to be quick about this so, you are basically getting the notes I jotted down while watching.

Very first thought: WTF and WOW, they let Sam keep his man fur for a change. (Those two things were not related.)

The first conversation about Mary between Dean and Cas felt awkward. Not like normal Cas conversations awkward, but more like they were trying to force something on us in that moment.

What did Sam say when he brought himself out of the hallucination?

Dean reaction to Mary saying John was a great father was so perfect and said so much.

I am loving Mary.

When did they get Mary clothes?

Rowena! *happy dance of eternal joy*

You ever notice that Luci seems to have the same MO whenever he goes after a vessel (that we see)?

Isn't the hotel set just the heaven set repainted?

Red glowing eyes, really?

Oh, Sam!!

I wonder how they will keep Misha and Jared separated next week.

Post episode thoughts: Another great episode. This season has a lot of promise. I am loving the Winchester dynamics. At least the British MoL plot has thickened, so it might not be a total dud. Rick Springfield is doing better than I thought he would. I am still reserving judgment on this latest flavor of Cas, but so far so good.
