Starting in the middle like a champ!
In your own space, celebrate a personal win from the past year: it can be a list of fanworks you're especially proud of, a gift of your time to the community, a quality or skill you cultivated in yourself, something you generally feel went well.
Like a lot of people, 2021 is a hard year for me to look back on and actually find some good. Thankfully, the list of starter ideas from the challenge post helped me come up with something.
I am proud that I posted more fics than I thought I did. I've been so focused on what I didn't do, I've been neglecting what I actually did do.
Aside from my usual fair:
I did a fest I wouldn't normally do because some of my “friends” were being highly judgmental and policing the subject matter of my fics the last couple years, without me realizing that was changing what I was writing for fear of alienating them. I had fun. The fic has been well received. I'm not friends with some of those people anymore (because boundaries) and I've been better off for it. (Yup, vague on purpose.)
I wrote for several fests in a fandom (Batman) that I don't normally write fic for, despite being in it for years, even though I was terrified of being roasted in said fandom and my alpha reader had to bail on me before she even got to read anything (for very legit IRL reasons). I'm proud of myself for actually posting. And I was just overthinking things. My fics are fine. Basically, I was holding back because one person's comments were living rent free in my head and I finally got over it.
I wrote a fic for a fandom I haven't written for in two decades. (Happy Days)
I made a Batman/Addams Family crossover AU and it's weirdly wholesome.
I finally posted part of my Batman/Avatar: the Last Airbender crossover Occult AU.
I actually completed a Horror Movie Synopsis Challenge at the

I finally started posting my Rowena (Supernatural)/Morgana (Merlin) fics.
I started writing Clark Kent/Jimmy Olsen because there is almost none on AO3 and it feels like a crime against fandom.
So clearly, I am a badass. (I'm kidding, but I am proud of myself.)
