In your own space, tell us who you would recast in a film, tv series or webseries, or maybe someone voicing a cartoon or videogame. Or who would you cast to play a character in a book, comic or maybe even your own fiction!
I used to love this game! Though, it's been years since I've really played. *cracks knuckles* Let's give it a shot!
First one, always on the list, Tom Cruise as Lestat in Interview with a Vampire has always bothered me. I've never had a alternative to who might have been better, especially at the time, but I read an article awhile back saying that originally Johnny Depp was going to have the role, but a conflict came up and they had to recast. I have no idea if that is true, but it is an interesting to think about. Also, every time we talk about the movie, Vexed brings up her choice of Sebastian Bach at the time, and you know, I can't argue with that.
It would have been interesting to see Jensen Ackles play a live action version of Jason Todd in a live action version of Under The Red Hood, when he was young enough to do so, but I am not sure he had the skills at the time to do so.
What started my massive Batman project a year and a half ago, was that Vexed wanted to know what movies and TV shows to watch to get to know the batfamily without reading the comics, and honestly, outside of Batman and sort of Dick Grayson's Robin, there isn't much. And most of what there is, isn't really useful for that. About the only thing with Tim Drake is The New Batman Adventures cartoon from the late 1990s which is technically Tim, but they gave him basically Jason's backstory and personality... and excluded Jason from the universe. Jason Todd is also largely excluded from most media and when he is (with the exception of the Under the Red Hood movie) they completely change him into someone who should just be a completely new character. So just a movie or TV show that one, includes the existence of Tim Drake and Jason Todd and two, actually have them be those characters or something actually close.
Okay, I swore I had more of these, (I know I had more of these), but my brain is just pulling up blanks, so I'll stop here.

It does frustrated me when they mess with characters from book/comic to film, I often find that there's some great ones who are simply forgotten about or combined into other characters!!

(Jensen Ackles also did the voice for Batman in The Long Halloween parts 1 & 2, which I haven't watched yet and is in talks with DC to do more work, so, who knows what is coming down the pipe.)
Yes! It's so frustrating! I get that adaptation is difficult, but so many choices just don't make sense.
