What was the first anime you watched and/or manga you read?
First anime was either Fullmetal Alchemist (2003) or InuYasha. It was a confusing time period and I'm not sure which was first.
First manga was Hellsing and Ranma 1/2. Funnily enough, volumes of both were handed to me in response to finding out that I was watching InuYasha.
What is the last anime you watched and/or manga you read?
Last anime was a rewatch of Samurai Champloo.
Last manga was Boys Run the Riot.
What is your current favorite anime and/or manga?
Samurai Champloo, Blue Exorcist, and Ghost in the Shell
Which anime and/or manga deserves a sequel?
Beelzebub feels a bit cheaty to say because it did get 60 episodes, but it was cancelled before the series actually finished.
There are so many good incomplete manga on permanent hiatus, I wouldn't know where to start.
Which series do you wish you could watch or read for the first time all over again?
Bleach, mostly because the first time around, I couldn't watch it in order, and it would be nice to start over without knowing what's coming.
I think I'd like to read Chobits for the first time all over again though.
Last anime and/or manga that made you cry?
I genuinely can't remember.
Which anime will you forever keep rewatching or manga will you forever keep rereading?
Samurai Champloo, Blue Exorcist, & Ghost in the Shell
What series are you looking forward to reading and/or watching?
My friend gave me her DVDs of Yuri on Ice and I'm looking forward to finally watching that.
My reading choices aren't as planned out. Most of the time I just grab whatever series caught my eye at the library.
What is your go to series when you are feeling down?
Samurai Champloo. It used to be Ranma 1/2, but I no longer have access to it.
Recommend an anime and/or manga:
Samurai Champloo (anime)
Hellsing (manga, specifically)
Nana (anime)
Mushi-Shi (anime)
Blue Exorcist (both)
Describe yourself using three anime/manga titles:
Type "Anime is..." And let predictive text finish the sentence:
"Anime is an important part of our culture lyrics"
How many anime series do you watch and/or manga series do you read in a year?
The last couple years, I have really slowed down on the anime series. Without looking, I think I only watched 10 last year, and i think most of those were rewatches. It used to be more like a series a week.
I typically read a couple volumes of manga a month, so it really depends on how long the series is and what else is going on. Like this year, I haven't read any yet.
Who is your favorite anime and/or manga character?
Ed from Cowboy Bebop and Batou from Ghost in the Shell
Who do you think is the most iconic anime/manga villain?
Vicious from Cowboy Bebop. This was really hard.
If you were reborn as an inanimate object, what would it be?
My first thought was smart phone and I have no idea why.
What anime and/or manga quote motivates you the most?
"Perfection is a dead end. A condition of hopelessness. Always strive to be better than anything that came before you, but not perfect." Kurotsuchi Mayuri (Bleach).
Yes, I see this as more problematic than I used to, but it's gotten me through some dark times over the years.
What is your favorite cozy anime and/or manga?
Mushi-Shi and Natsume's Book of Friends.
I am looking for more cozy series.
What is your favorite "Halloween," spooky or horror anime and/or manga?
Anything Junji Ito tends to be my go to.
What is your nostalgia anime and/or manga?
Ghost in the Shell, Dragon Ball,... Almost any 90s series will scratch that itch.
Favorite filler arc in an anime and/or manga?
InuYasha had some good filler arcs, my favorite was probably Shippou Gets an Angry Challenge.
What was your favorite romantic plot or love interest in an anime and/or manga?
There was this amazing slow burn Yuri anime series I watched like 10, 12, 14 years ago that I cannot remember the name and was never able to find again. The main characters had the first romantic plot in an anime I was ever truly invested in and I think about it nearly daily, still.
What is your favorite fight/battle?
My brain just kind of glitched trying to come up with one.
Do you have a favorite summer episode, arc, or official art?
There is this really cute beach art with most of the main cast of InuYasha I've always really liked.
Do you prefer physical copies or do you prefer to watch/read online?
I prefer physical copies for both anime & manga, but when it comes to anime, I don't feel as strongly about it and it's mostly fueled by my spoty internet access. I do genuinely hate reading manga online though.
What is your favorite place to stream anime or read manga online?
Anywhere I can get to actually work.
Do you prefer subbed or dubbed anime?
I used to really prefer subbed, but as dubbing has gotten better, I find I care which less and actually try to watch things both ways, if I can.
What is your favorite anime movie?
Spirited Away. I rewatch this way too often.
Favorite anime opening?
Battlecry opening, Samurai Champloo
Which manga do you own the most volumes of?
Without digging everything out, it's either Blue Exorcist or Black Butler.
How do you organize your manga?
Alphabetically by title
Do you cosplay? Who has been your favorite character to cosplay and/or is there a character you'd love to cosplay, but haven't?
Yes, I cosplay. My favorite character to cosplay is Kisuke Urahara. He was my first cosplay and it's just brought me a lot of joy and it's fun tweaking/improving it. I have a large, ever changing list of characters I'd like to cosplay, but most of them aren't anime/manga characters. Unfinished cosplays I am currently working on: Beetlejuice, Sam from Trick r Treat, Grizz with the burrito from We Bare Bears, and Hilda from Hilda.
Do you have a favorite cosplayer?
Ezz/Ezinne.JPG & Nick Chirelli-Dunham/cannolicosplay
Do you go to conventions?
I've been to a couple conventions and I had been looking forward to going back, as I really enjoyed them, but it also sounds like post 2020 anime convention culture has changed really drastically.
Do you collect anime/manga merch?
Sort of? Like, I don't collect anything specific, but if I have an opportunity and it's in the budget, I will get something. Some of my favorite official merch items I have are my beads of subjugation necklace (InuYasha), my paper WacDonalds visor (The Devil's a Part Timer), and my Kisuke stuffed doll (Bleach). Though my favorite "merch" tends to be fan made, like my handmade Agni dolls I was gifted.
What anime and/or manga box set would you own, if anything were possible (either to have the complete series and/or because you like the look & extras of the box set)?
Ranma 1/2,both the anime and the manga. There are definitely others, but this is at the top of my list.
If you could have an art book from any manga and/or anime series, which one would it be (even if an art book doesn't currently exist for that series)?
I've wanted the Bleach art books for so long, it's not even funny.
If you could pre-order any manga, anime, or related item, what would it be?
Anytime a cookbook for a series I like comes out, I want it. If I had the budget, I would be pre-ordering all the cookbooks. I am still mad about missing out on the pre-orders for the Gudetama, Studio Ghibli, and Avatar the Last Airbender cookbooks.
If you could get a figure of any character, even if a figure doesn't currently exist, who would it be?
Kouga from InuYasha. While I have a bunch of other characters' figures wishlisted, if I actually FOUND a Kouga figure...
What is your ideal figure type/style (Q Posket, POP UP PARADE, Nendoroid, 1/7 Scale Figure, Figma, Funko Pop!, Figuarts Mini, ARTFX J, Prize Figure, NoodleStopper, FiguartsZERO, or other)?
I really love Nendoroid and 1/7 Scale figures the most, but Funko Pops are close behind.
If you were a Nendoroid, what accessories would you have?
Three facial expressions, a plate of sushi, 2 cellphones, a book, and a kitten
