Again, here are my ramblings I jotted down while and immediately after I watched the latest Supernatural episode. They are under a cut due to possible spoilers.

At first I was really annoyed with the rewrite of Mary's past until I got more into the episode. By the time it was over it felt less like a rewrite and more of expanding to make her more of a person.

It's been a while since we have done anything with other hunters, so that made me happy.

Yay, Jody!

I did giggle a bit at the mention of Brookings, even though it wasn't the right Brookings.

It also made my day that they mentioned Dean liking erotic anime again for the first time in a very long time. I was beginning to fear that they were going to pretend that it wasn't part of his character.

I had a point to make here, but I literally cannot read my own hand writing and I just went and rewatched that part of the episode and have no clue what it might be. So whatever it was shall forever remain a mystery.

One thing that really irked me was when Sam said, “Dad always told us to stay away from hunter gatherings.” Mostly because in the beginning of the Road House arc, they clearly had no clue that hunters had gatherings, so when exactly did Dad tell them this? I have other issues with that particular point, but I don't want to do a big long rant about it and that was my main issue with it.

At a convention, one of the boys (possibly Jensen) said that there would be a lot of referencing back to season two this season and so far that has been delightfully on the money. This one did not disappoint in that respect, especially with Dean's and Sam's attitudes towards their futures.

So do Canadian hunters work like American hunters? Do they have a branch of the Men of Letters? If so, how do they work? If not, why not and why haven't the British Men of Letters been all over their asses if they work like the American ones do?

I have really been hoping that Jody and Mary would meet. It was not as epic as I had hoped, but I liked the dynamic of Dean having two mommies after him to not be such an ass. That was great.

It was also good that they reinforced that there is backlash to hunting for all hunters, not just the Winchesters.

It was so wrong (and yet so right) that Sam and Mary were the ones that found the body on the ceiling. That was both an epic bit of storytelling/visual reference, yet so totally wrong and cruel at the same time.

Yay, Billie! (Sort of)

I wish they would get some sort of consistency with demon eye color or just take an episode to explain it in a consistent way. We have had crossroad demons with red eyes and black smoke. We have had crossroad demons with black eyes and black smoke. And then we have Crowley, red eyes and red smoke. Is there a hierarchy? Or is it SPN just can't get its shit together in the consistency department?

And there it is, “what's dead should stay dead.” I have been waiting for a reference all season. (Technically, I have been waiting for years, but that is a completely separate issue.)

Overall, I liked the episode, I didn't love it. Now, to patiently wait for episode 7 and hope they keep up the good work.
