This is a living document. I will try to update as answers change and new questions arrive. Some of these are from memes and some of these are questions I get in real life and on Facebook. I will add dates to when questions were answered, when relevant. Feel free to add your own questions in the comments below.

How I have been described in the last year, by other people:
A mushroom.

Louis from Interview with the Vampire, specifically the scene when he burns down the theater in Paris to avenge Claudia's death.

Someone described me as their “bright, shiny spot.” It's probably my fave.

The one that gets things done/mom friend
(Last updated January 2022)

Is there a story behind your username?
It was a nickname given to me from a fandom friend from my early online fandom days, whom I now have a complicated non-relationship with. It has to do with my curly hair.

You mostly post about:
It ranges. Mostly it's goal and general life updates, but also fandom things, random thoughts, memes

You never or very rarely post:
I very rarely post pictures.

Your posting frequency (e.g. daily, every few days, weekly, etc.):
Right now, its been pretty heavy just because of the new year, and I definitely have my posting feast and famine times, but on average, it's about 1-3 times per week.

What's your favorite animated Disney movie?
As a child: Robin Hood, Jungle Book, & Sleeping Beauty
As an adult: Brave, Coco, & Moana

What's your favorite non-Disney & non-anime animated movie or series?
Right now, it's Primal and Avatar: the Last Airbender, but it changes frequently.

What's your favorite anime?
Samuari Champloo, Ranma 1/2, InuYasha, Blue Exorcist, Aggretsuko, Ghost in the Shell

What's your favorite manga?
Hellsing, InuYasha, Blue Exorist, Bleach, Ranma 1/2

Anime or manga?
manga

Subbed or dubbed?
Subbed. Don't get me wrong, dubbing has come a long way and if I have the chance, I watch most series both ways. I also need the captioning on to help me focus on what I am watching and the captioning on most dubbed things are the subtitles for the undubbed version and they tend not to match. It's maddening.

Favorite Marvel title/franchise?
MCU: Captain America, Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor: Ragnarok
other media: She Hulk, Red Sonja, X-Men, Deadpool

Favorite DC title/franchise?
Batman & batfam related titles, The Sandman, Swamp Thing, Hellblazer, Adventures of Superman, Fables, Lego DC

Favorite Robin?
This shouldn't have been this difficult. I'm going with Dick Grayson. Jason Todd is sometimes my favorite, but not when he was Robin (except for the bits they have retconned and improved his time as Robin). Tim Drake would be the Robin I “grew up with” and while I love him, he creeps me out sometimes and I can't figure out why. Stephanie Brown was never really given a fair shake at being Robin. I love Damian Wayne, but he's not my favorite. And I don't know enough about Duke, including if he was ever actually Robin, some things say yes and some say no.

Rank the live action Batmans
Michael Keaton, Adam West (he was my first Batman and I like campy Batman), Val Kilmer, Robert Pattinson, Ben Affleck (I just feel like he wasn't really given a chance to actually play Batman), Christian Bale (I love a lot of things about the Nolan 'verse movies, how Christian Bale's Batman was written is not one of them), George Clooney.

I didn't see either movie from the 40s, so I can't include Lewis Wilson or Robert Lowery. Nor have I seen Joker from 2019, so I can't include Dante Pereira-Olson. And The Batman with Robert Pattinson hasn't come out yet.

Favorite kaiju?
Godzilla & King Ghidorah. I am also willing to argue that moose are real life kaiju.

Favorite Universal classic horror monster?
The creature from the Black Lagoon and Frankenstein's monster.

Favorite horror movie?
It's not the best, but I rewatch Trick 'r Treat the most, so I'm going with that one.

What are your fandoms?
Supernatural, Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, Good Omens, Merlin, Blue Exorcist, InuYasha, Avatar: the Last Airbender, Ghost in the Shell (Stand Alone Complex mainly, but the franchise as a whole), Aggretsuko, Law & Order, The Simpson's, Addam's Family, Batman, Godzilla, Samurai Champloo, & The Sandman.

How long have you been in fandom?
It depends on when you want to start counting. It could be when I was eight and was absolutely flabbergasted that Superman and Batman were not in fact boyfriends, and was also starting to engage in activities we normally associate with being part of a fandom, especially with Batman, Northern Exposure, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It could be when I started writing vampire chronicles fanfic when I was twelve. Usually, I go with when I started engaging in online fandom and making fandom friends in 2004/2005.

If resources were unlimited, who would you cosplay as?
There are a lot of characters I would like to cosplay as, but to really make use of the unlimited resources, probably a version of the Red Hood or specifically this (https://www.instagram.com/p/CWdyrh2vVr3/) version of Batman from the Batman 120 variant cover by Dan Hipp.

What is the difference between cosplay, casual cosplay, and closet cosplay?
Cosplay is dressing up as a character, generally with the goal to portray them as accurately as possible and usually, but not always, implies an element of being in character, not just wearing the costume.

Casual cosplay is creating an wearable, everyday outfit inspired by a character. It walks the fine line between being enough like cosplay that fans should get what character it is, but not be costumy. It was a popular type of outfit building on Polyvore before it died and seemed most common in the Disney fandom.

Closet cosplay implies that you put zero thought into your costume and just pulled something together with things out of your closet. It used to be a common and devastating insult. Now, I mostly hear it as a joke.

Are you into table top role play gaming?
Yes.

D&D or Pathfinder?
Pathfinder

D&D/Pathfinder system or Fate system?
Fate. Character building doesn't feel as rigid, roleplay is emphasized over combat, and there is a lot less math.

Roleplay or combat (in gaming)?
Roleplay

Character you have always wanted to roleplay (in gaming)?
I want to play a character who is adventuring because of a midlife crisis. I also want to figure out how to play Rodney McKay in D&D. My last character in my last campaign was pretty close, but I think I can do better.

What is latrinalia?
Bathroom graffiti

“send me your nudes” or “send me your playlist”?
send me your playlist

Favorite artist or work or movement or genre (visual)?
Frida Kahlo/ The Sea of Ice by Caspar David Friedrich/ pop art – I mean if I have to chose.

What is your art background?
I am an abstract multi-media artist. I have some professional training in watercolor, but am mostly self-taught in other mediums. I primarily work in acrylic paint and multi-media. I've had several short stints as an art teacher, primarily working with children under twelve. I was also an assistant teacher in an art therapy program. My degree is in art history with a main specialty in medieval manuscripts and multiple sub-specialties, including German Romanticism, 19th century female self-portraiture, and art administration. For five years, I was on the board of our local art association, their newsletter editor, and worked on several committees. For six years, I co-lead the art association's Life Drawing Group. I also lead and co-lead several art demonstrations, including the basics of how to draw hands and beginning multi-media techniques. I was a member of the design team at our local scrapbooking store. I've been an art show judge. My artwork has received local and national awards.

What is your education/degree?
I have a BA in art history, but to get there, I, at one point, was working on a double major in art history and Germanic studies with a minor in medieval studies. At one point, a degree in folklore with a double emphasis on folk religion (as in how a religion is actually practiced vs. its dogma) & pop culture as religion was mixed in there too. Basically, it all got whittled down until just the art history degree so I could graduate before my scholarship & grants ran out.

What did you do at the art center?
I was on the board, which means a lot of things, but mostly it means I had to go to several meetings a month, discuss and vote on issues involving the art center. I was the newsletter editor, which meant editing written content given to me, writing content myself, editing photos, taking pictures at events, and dealing with soliciting ad revenue, for the most part. I also had to build the newsletter itself and take it to the printer and distribute via email, but my predecessor set up the newsletter in the least user friendly program available and I already had to spend over twenty hours a month on just the newsletter at the art center, I didn't have time to learn a new, better program and start the whole thing over. It's something I do regret. I was on more committees than I care to remember, but I was most active in the library committee and the By-Laws Committee (when we had to completely re-write our by-laws for legal reasons) and I got stuck on nomination committee three years in a row. The nomination committee was the group that found nominees to be potentially be on board each year. I held a volunteer position at every event we hosted (which was a lot), as well a brought food for every event that had members bringing food and was part of clean up every event. I co-hosted at the opening of the Oregon Watercolor Society traveling show the two times our gallery hosted the show. I gallery hosted. I taught gallery hosting 101 and how to run the credit card machine when the member that normally taught that was unavailable. I hosted art walks. I ended up assisting the hospitality committee for a year. I ended up doing the work for the historian one year when she just sort of dropped the ball for eight months. I hosted two demos of my own and assisted with two others. I co-ran the Life Drawing Group. I modeled. I was interim recording secretary twice, once for three months and once for nine. There is more, this is just the main stuff and it all happened at the same time during a stretch of about six years, going on seven, and on top attempting to show and create my own work and attending classes at the center. Which was all too much and I was also constantly being told I wasn't doing enough, but the real last straw as to why I ended up distancing myself from the art center was that the first year I was semi-active after I left all of my positions was a board member approaching me to volunteer, informing me that as a member I had to do my fair share and wasn't contributing to the association. I haven't been an active member since and I haven't paid my membership dues since 2020.

What do you miss about the scrapbooking store?
Actually being able to get craft supplies mostly. You would think it would be simple with online shopping, but you'd be wrong. Most of this stuff is sold at brick and motor stores only for some reason. I also miss being on the design team, ATC exchanges, altered book classes, easy access to Copic markers (and the marker refilling station), and open craft sessions at the store.

Favorite craft supplies?
I love exacto knives, but I rarely use them anymore. I still use Smooch on just about everything and wish I had known the company that makes it went out of business in 2019. E6000 glue is one of my favorite adhesives for multi-media work. Cards – like used plastic gift cards – are a nice, versatile tool. I love using Distress ink on paper products, it's just a nice finishing touch. I've gone back Sharpies as one of my main mediums and can't remember why I ever stopped. Stickers should probably be on here, though I use them less as a craft supply and more as a “I most mark this item because it is otherwise boring.”

What's the deal with Christmas in July?
I've never really been a Christmas person, like, I enjoy the crafting potential and baking/candy/food making, but it's never been my holiday. Vexed a few years back informed me I was co-hosting her Christmas in July bingo at allbingo, which, yeah, she needs a co-host, and I got into it. It's an opportunity to do the crafty/creating stuff without the crunch and stress of the holiday season and with it being in July, it gives me a chance to focus on something that is not the emotional baggage that is my birthday (it has nothing to do with getting older and everything to do with family issues). And while I like Christmas in July more than Christmas, getting into Christmas in July made me like Christmas more.

Are you/were you on Neopets?
Yes, I was on Neopets in the early days and was rather obsessed, but I left a long time ago. I'm on Subeta now, going on seven years and am loving it there, despite all the website issues. (Jan 2022)

Favorite city
I have three favorite cities: Seattle, New Orleans, and San Francisco (though most of what I loved about San Francisco is gone). An honorable mention goes to Portland, OR because while it's not my favorite place, it has a lot of my favorite things.

What are your favorite seasons of American Horror Story?
Murder House, Coven, and Hotel. I'm not sure I have watched past Hotel though.

Who is your favorite Doctor?
Of new Who, it's Twelve. I haven't seen any classic Who and I haven't watched enough of Thirteen to have much of an opinion about her.

What is your go to "depression meal"?
Depending on a lot of factors - meat sticks and cheese, peanut butter and apple butter sandwich, or ramen noodles with something added (like ripped up jerky or a package of smoked salmon).

In all our talks, I've never realized that Subeta was ANYTHING like NeoPets. It definitely looks interesting, now that I've gone to look at it, but I doubt I have the time right now. Still, if you'd get anything from me signing up, send me a link. :)

I'm a whiskey girl myself, but why, why, why MUSHROOM???? LOL

<3 <3 <3 (Seriously, things like this are so fascinating. I did cultural history regarding explanations of natural phenomena in the Early Modern Period (I can't translate it better, sorry. *g*) and wanted to do a PhD thesis on how people imagined witchcraft works. E.g. they believed that witches cause hailstorms but how did they think that worked?)

Yes, it would have been. :D

I never officially told my advisor I was abandoning it, but I don't think I'll ever find the time or energy for something like that again. ;D I do hope someone else takes up that topic at some point, so I can at least read about it in their published thesis one day. :D
