Challenge #14

Try something new.

- This is ongoing, but our local library has added 20+ board games to their “library of things” so my mother and I are trying one each week. So far, we have tried Azul (tile matching game) and Sushi Go (card game). We have Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza this week, but haven’t tried it yet.

- I am going to actually try the [community profile] halfamoon challenge (celebrates female characters in fandom from 2/1 to 2/14) this year. I always forget about it until it’s more than half over, but this year, I am giving it a real go. *fingers crossed*

- I am also signing up for [personal profile] elasticella’s Fresh Femslash Salad Bar (a Multifandom femslash event, runs all of February). She runs such good femlash events and I always end up missing out. Hopefully, I can get at least one fill done next month. If I can ever decide on which tables to claim.

I'm also trying to do half a moon this year, and realising that I do better with more specific prompts. But we'll see. I've done a ficlet a day for that long before!

My current strategy is making a list of every female character I like, then writing drabbles. If something ends u going longer, that's fine, but I figure this is relatively low pressure, and works with the vague prompts.

I like the idea of having boardgames at the library. It has been ages since I played one with other adults, but I used to really enjoy it. I did get to play Settlers of Catan with my friend's two sons last year (and they completely robbed me, of course) but other than them, everyone in my life seems to think they are too "grown up" for playing games. *sigh* "Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza" sounds weirdly intriguing, though. ;D

Speaking of intriguing, the challenge you mention sound interesting, too. I'm going to keep an eye on that comm, even though I won't have time to contribute myself probably...

It amazes me the amount of people who have simply decided they are "too old" for things. Especially fun things and things that have versions actually geared towards adults, if one wanted to limit themselves that way.

This! There's little enough time to start with, why put arbitrary limits on what you will do with it?

I used to have a group to play with when I was younger. Same with Tabletop RPGs. I think I need to start looking for some hobby groups online. As soon as I get settled in whatever place teacher training takes me to this year or the next. :-)
