Or more accurately, Batman adjacent things. Most of this might actually be Jason Todd. These are all little things that were originally going to be there own posts, but I have collected them together into one big post so, that they would actually get posted. Enjoy!

~ Batman's 85th anniversary is this year. When it is most appropriate to celebrate is debatable, but I'm still kicking myself for not doing anything for the 80th anniversary. I have no ideas though. If you have any, please let me know.

~ It was recently Jason Todd's death day. My Instagram was flooded with wonderful fan art and I had planned on finally watching my interactive Blu-ray of Death in the Family, (it was not meant to be). It got me thinking about if their are any other fandoms where they commemorate a character's death day, but also I think Jason is the only member of the Batman that has a single established birthday. I could be wrong on this, but I know Dick Grayson has 5 official birthdays, Bruce has 2, I think, and several characters just don't have one. Also, logically it's a little weird we don't also celebrate his coming back from the dead day, but there are so many different variations on how that happened, I don't think any date was ever established. Did anyone else do or plan to do something for Jason's death day?

~ I was on a Taylor Swift kick for a couple days and it struck me that Shake It Off by Taylor Swift would be the perfect karaoke song for Bruce Wayne when he is in Brucie Wayne mode. Please look up a YouTube video with the lyrics and envision the near himbo Brucie Wayne alter ego performing it while you listen.

~ Looking for some input: I am working on a couple collages, one for Jason Todd, and a SuperBats one, both are in the collecting materials stages. I am trying to go for the 2000s fandom graphics/Blingee/Myspace vibe, but in a physical format. Any ideas are welcome.

~ I do not know how or why, but for nearly a week, my Instagram recommends were full of Batman/Hello Kitty artwork. Not Batman being a Hello Kitty fan, not Hello Kitty dressed as Batman, but Batman/Hello Kitty as a shipped pair. And it was multiple different artists. I've refrained from interacting with it enough that it's mostly gone away, but my brain is still unsure what to do with this information. It did give me a surprisingly not cursed fic idea though (with Vexed's help).

~ I no longer have the article (pretty sure it was Screen Rant), but someone suggested a live action fan casting of Jensen Ackles for Batman and Timothee Chalamet as Robin. I really wanted to hate it, but damn, I like it. (The specified Robin was Damian Wayne.)

~ Panda Redd's April Tik Tok compilation videos came out on YouTube and unexpectedly, he has his own theory justifying Jason Todd having an autopsy scar. I was not expecting him to be pro-autopsy scar. To be fair, I am also pro-autopsy scar, mostly for aesthetic reasons, but I also know it doesn't make sense for him to have one, and frankly, the logic part of my brain can't get past some horrifying implications. If you want me to do a post on this, let me know.

~ kibar.art for #nationalsuperheroday put up a guide on how to light a face from different angles using Batman on Instagram and it tickled me.

~ impyssadobsessions on Tumblr made an adorable fanart called My Neighbor Batman that shows the bus stop scene from My Neighbor Totoro, with Batman as Totoro and Dick!Robin & Jason!Robin as the kids, that needs to be seen.

I actually have 6 more things, but I think I will stop here for now and do a part 2 later.

Challenge #5

Search in your current space, whether brick-and-mortar or digital. Post a picture (a link to a picture will be fine!) or description of something that is or represents
:

1. Something your favorite character would like
One of the problems with being so multifandom is that, I am not sure who my favorite character is, like, no one particular character comes to mind. According to [personal profile] vexed_wench, my favorite character is Alfred Pennyworth. I think he would appreciate my very clearly labeled storage system and that I have sewing kits hidden throughout the house. My mother heard what I was doing and started shouting out Dean Winchester related things, so I will add the assorted bottles of whiskey in the laundry room. (We keep all the alcohol in a cabinet in the laundry room. Also, Bobby is actually my favorite Supernatural character, but I think this works for both.) And just because I feel like Iroh needs a shout out, I think he would appreciate my very assorted collection of teas.

2. Something that makes you laugh
The gifs from Vexed that regularly grace my phone.

3. A fandom place you would like to visit
Okay, technically, there are a few things I could use for this, but every time I found one, my brain went, "No, not there, you'll die." So, I'm skipping this one. (Though my mother has decided to help me with this scavenger hunt and brought me my Stargate SG-1 DVDs when she heard what question I was on.)

4. A fandom creator (pro or not) you'd like to meet
My brain interpreted this in too many ways. If we are talking a creator that created a fandom, I am going with my Emotional Support Demon plushie. I was so happy to get one of The Click’s plushies after missing out on Cliccy Kitties 1 and 2, and both runs of Mango. (I also got the keychain sized versions of the Emotional Support Demon and Mango last year.) If we are talking a creator in a fandom that creates fandom things, I have the print out of an email, for collage purposes, of confirmation of tickets I bought for a virtual burlesque show I went to a few years ago. One of the show’s featured performers was a writer/cosplayer/performer/make-up artist/trans & chronic illness advocate/comic enthusiast/goblin rogue I really appreciate. But honestly the idea of meeting anyone is terrifying.

5. Something you find comforting
Oden the Peccary Pig of the Squishmallow Desert Squad. According to his bio, he loves building intricate sandcastles. All I know is petting the fluff on top of his head helps me sleep.

6. Something from a favorite TV series or movie from your childhood
When I was a baby, my sister made me a Popple blanket from a kit as part of her sewing class.

7. A piece of clothing you love
My red "DAMNIT BRUCE, WE'RE RUNNING OUT OF ROOMS" T-shirt. It was an early bit of Panda Redd merch that, sadly, most of the lettering has come off of. I went to buy a sticker with the saying, but when he switched shops recently, it was not part of the old designs he brought over.

8. A book or song with a color in the title
There are literally thousands of books in my house and I frustratingly could not find one with a color in the title. So, I turned to my music collection and found "Inked in Red" by Vision video and "Welcome to the Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance at pretty much the same time.

9. Something only someone in your fandom would understand
I guess my letterman's jacket. It’s maroon with grey sleeves and a grey hood. The emblem on the left side of the chest is a “15” in the center of the “flame” design that surrounds an anti-possession tattoo and the back has a W with a black Chevy impala threaded through it with, “There’ll be peace when you are done” around it. I’ve worn this thing almost every day for almost (?) 4 years now. The most common comment I get is people shouting “cool jacket” at me. I also get a lot of knowing nods from people I assume are Supernatural fans and it’s started a lot of unexpected conversations about Supernatural. However, it has just as often gotten people coming up to me asking what sport I played, wanting to try to start conversations about cars, asking what religious organization I belong to, or just “what does 15 mean?”

In your own space, rec a fanwork (fic, art, vid, playlist, anything!) you did not create.

Normally, I try to be a bit varied/multi-fandom with my recs or do a themed list, but for the sake of my sanity, I've limited it to two.

Batnesia by Qui is one of my favorite SuperBats fics of all time, even though it's very new. Bruce Wayne gets amnesia that very specifically only affects his memories that involve being Batman. When he wakes up, one of the first people he sees is Clark staring down at him and immediately assumes Clark is his boyfriend. The BatFam is advised to just go with whatever Bruce thinks and let his memories come back to him on his own. This leads to some hijinks and some surprising self-reflection on Bruce's part. It also has some case fic elements as they try to figure out how Bruce got amnesia in the first place and how to fix it. I'm not going to share my favorite part because, while it is a minor plot point, it is still a bit spoilery. I am going to say, I appreciate that Clark is very aware of the consent issues of being intimate with Bruce while he doesn't know who he is and avoids doing so, much to Bruce's frustration. I haven't reread it in it's entirety since it completed last February, but the updates while it was ongoing were the highlight of my day and is on my “will always rec” list. Also, this fic started the whole “Jason Todd identifies things by licking them” bit of fanon.

My other rec is the entirety of The Panda Redd's youtube channel
If you are into comics, want to learn more about comics, or enjoy fanmade skits, this is a channel for you. Panda is a college student who is really into comics and cosplay. He started doing skits and comic discussions on Tik Tok in the fall of 2020 and that is still his primary platform (with currently 854.8K followers). I first noticed him around that time on YouTube because his “Robin Roasts” and “Alfred, Call the Guy” skits would show up in the TikTok compilation videos I would watch. In May 2021, Panda started posting his videos to his own YouTube channel. Those first videos were compilations done by category, all the Robin Roasts in one video, all the Tim Tests in one video, etc. Since then, he posts to YouTube monthly with the previous month's Tik Toks into two compilation videos – one for skits and one for discussions. (The downside is, he doesn't timestamp his videos.)

Recently, he has also started making longer form content specifically for YouTube, namely a Halloween special and a Christmas special.

He is very passionate, knowledgeable, and talented. It is a joy just watching him blow up as he gets invitations to speak at podcasts, on convention panels, and other gigs. But at the end of the day, he likes to point out he's just a broke college kid filming skits in his dorm room.

He also streams on twitch (I think, I know he used to do drawing livestreams there).

If you'd rather see his content in a more timely manner, he posts to Tik Tok almost everyday.
